How will I be charged?

Once you upgrade, your billing cycle will reset and you will be charged the full price for the new subscription, but if your active billing cycle hasn’t expired, the value of the remaining time will be subtracted from the full cost of the upgrade. If you increase the number of hosts, the additional charge will be prorated for the remainder of your current billing cycle. If you are downgrading you will see the changes applied to your next billing cycle. You will receive a receipt by email with detailed information.

Our system counts the upgrade according to this formula:

([new plan price] – [old plan price]) x [time on old plan]

For example, let’s say…

  • You paid $100 to start your current annual subscription.
  • Your new subscription costs $200 annually.
  • Your billing cycle will reset and you will be charged for the new plan.
    1. ([new plan] – [old plan])
      $200 – 0.5*$100 = $150 upgrade fee. This is how much you will pay.
    2. $50 will be used as a credit from the previous subscription.
    3. Your new billing cycle will be set up for 12 months.

I am upgrading, how will this affect me?

If you are upgrading to a more advanced plan, you will restart your billing cycle and be charged the full plan price that is subtracted by the value of the remaining unused time in your current billing cycle . Your existing payment details will be used for the transaction. A credit from your previous payment will be deducted from the upgrade cost.

I am downgrading, how will this affect me?

If you are downgrading you will see the changes applied to your next billing cycle. You will receive a receipt by email with detailed information.

Is tax included in the price when I buy a subscription?

For customers based in the US and outside the EU, we do not include VAT on subscriptions purchased at kahoot.com.

For customers within the EU, EEU regulation requires we collect Value-added tax (VAT) if a VAT number is not provided along with authorization for a charge. VAT will be based on your physical location or the location of your payment provider. Unless required by your country, VAT will not be calculated or displayed prior to processing a charge.
