This week, I have taken on the job as CEO at Kahoot!. I could not be more humbled and excited to step into this role. When I joined the other founders in 2013, little did I know that Kahoot! would soon become a global phenomenon on a mission to make learning awesome in schools, businesses, social events, for all ages and around the world.
In just a couple of years, Kahoot! has graduated from a startup to one of the top learning brands in the world with 50+ talented employees, over 70 million monthly active users, thousands of premium subscribers, support from top investors, and a long-term strategy in place.
Over the last few months, we reached many significant milestones and brought to market Kahoot!’s first recurring revenue-generating products. They are scaling up beautifully every day and will provide the core revenues of the company in the years to come.
It’s a great starting point for me as the CEO, and I am extremely grateful to my predecessor Erik Harrell for laying down a truly solid foundation upon which we will continue building up the company. It’s through Erik’s efforts and strong leadership that we are so well positioned to take the company to the next level. It goes without saying that we will miss Erik’s determination, relentless energy, and high degree of integrity. Thank you Erik!
I look forward to developing the company further, and our immediate goals include some important milestones for the company and its owners: reach 100 million monthly active users in 2018 and make the company self-sustainable by 2019. To achieve this, we’ll focus on strengthening our platform and growing our premium subscription business. At the same time, we will hold our promise to keep the complete core Kahoot! experience free for K-12 teachers and their students – this is in our DNA.
With the support of the talented, passionate Kahoot! K!rew, and the most enthusiastic and loyal user community a company could ever want, we will get there and definitely have a ton of fun along the way. While Kahoot! keeps moving forward as a company, our mission remains our North Star – to make learning awesome. So let’s play!
