One of the world’s fastest growing learning brands
2016 was an incredible year for Kahoot! We’re now one of the world’s fastest growing learning brands, used by millions of users each day in around 200 countries. Throughout the year, our community created, hosted and joined a breathtaking amount of content, in record numbers.
We are over the moon with the impact we are making on educators and students worldwide. In fact, in 2016 there were only six countries in the world where someone didn’t join a game of kahoot!
Take a look at some growth stats we have accomplished in since our beginnings in 2013:
- We’ve reached 40 million monthly active users on our platform (60% growth from the same time last year), of which 67% are in the United States.
- 110 million kahoots have been played on our platform so far, including from a library of 15 million public kahoots.
- More than 2 million K-12 teachers in the U.S. have signed up for Kahoot and 21 million (more than third of) U.S. K-12 students use Kahoot! on a monthly basis.
This spectacular growth is thanks to our awesome community of teachers, students and educators worldwide who believe in our platform and our mission to make learning awesome. In fact, Kahoot! is counted as one of the top 10 tools for education in the K-12 classroom in the U.S., according to the Center for Learning and Performance Technologies.
Since coming on board as the CEO of Kahoot! in September 2016, I am amazed at the sheer passion and drive from the community of educators and students, making Kahoot! a pop cultural phenomenon.
Our highest purpose is to help learners realize their deepest potential in classrooms and beyond and to create the most relevant global learning brand for today’s learners.
To further our mission to make learning awesome we are investing in the development of additional game formats, our mobile application, and new applications for brands, publishers and audiences in the Kahoot! game space. Our recently announced funding round will help us get there.
The billion player milestone couldn’t have happened at a better time. This week we will be present at one of the largest education events in the United States: the SXSWedu festival in Austin, TX from March 6 – 9, 2017.
