Meet Max Rutkovsky, a Vice Principal at Ukrainian Global School and a true powerhouse when it comes to bringing innovation into the classroom. With more than 10 years of experience using Kahoot!, Max has transformed what student engagement looks like—especially during a time when personalized learning and teacher-driven insights have never been more essential.

“You’ve probably seen thousands of ways people use Kahoot! in their classes, but I’d like to tell you how Kahoot! assists me in creating individualized materials for my students and becoming a better educator.”

Max

Using data to drive deeper learning

Max isn’t just playing Kahoot! for fun (though fun is definitely part of the deal). He’s using its AI-powered creator tools and built-in analytics to uncover hidden learning patterns. For Max, it’s not about how many students got the answer right—it’s about how they answered.

Take the all-new Accuracy mode for example. By paying close attention to response times and accuracy, he identifies students who might be guessing, rushing, or struggling. “If someone locks in their answer in one second or uses almost the entire timer, that tells me something about their confidence or confusion level,” Max explains. “Those nuances help me shape what comes next—whether that’s a mini-lesson, targeted support, or an extension challenge.”

With these insights, Max designs differentiated follow-up tasks that meet every student exactly where they are. It’s personalized learning in action—and it’s helping educators across Ukraine rethink how digital tools can change the narrative for teaching and learning.

A passion for professional development

When he’s not in the classroom, Max is leading professional development sessions—both in-person and virtually—for fellow educators throughout Ukraine. His sessions go far beyond the basics, showing teachers how to unlock the full potential of Kahoot! to create inclusive, data-informed classrooms.

“Many educators I’ve trained are astonished by what becomes possible when you really use Kahoot! analytics,” Max shares. “It gives you a clear roadmap for making meaningful changes.”

A Kahoot! Day to remember

This year, Max pulled off something spectacular—a full Kahoot! Day at his school! From custom t-shirt designs to a school-wide Kahootopia quest, the event was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning. Here’s how it all unfolded:

  • Pre-party prep: Students and teachers designed personalized Kahoot! T-shirts with stencils and fabric paint.
  • Kahoot! all day: Every lesson (both English and Ukrainian) was powered by Kahoot!, keeping students engaged from start to finish.
  • Photo fun: A Kahoot-themed photo booth with balloons and decorations welcomed students at the door.
  • Kahootopia! quest: In the afternoon, the school transformed into an interactive game zone as students raced around playing Kahoots to earn points and grow their islands.
  • Prizes & memories: Stickers, Kahoot-themed socks (thank you, BettUK 2025!), and tons of epic moments were captured by a photographer and videographer to preserve the day’s excitement.

What’s next? A guidebook for global fun

Inspired by the success of Kahoot! Day, Max is now working on something even bigger—a Kahoot! Event Handbook designed to help other schools create their own unforgettable experiences. From event planning tips to activity ideas and lesson integrations, the handbook will be a go-to resource for turning any school day into a celebration of learning—with Kahoot! at the heart.

My goal is to make it easy for any school, anywhere, to bring this kind of joy and engagement to life. Of course, I’ll only be sharing it with Kahoot’s permission!
