SXSW EDU now available on Kahoot!

The SXSW EDU Conference & Festival—kicking off its 2024 event today—is a component of the world-famous South by Southwest® (SXSW®) family of conferences and festivals. Hosted annually in Austin, Texas, the event brings together the brightest minds in education to share ideas, network, and create the future of teaching and learning. Now, for the first time, educators in every corner of the world can access the most inspiring thought leadership from SXSW EDU 2023 in the format of Kahoot! courses—available for free!

Kahoot! courses offer full learning journeys combining different content formats, such as kahoots, videos, documents, and exploratory digital activities for deeper learning, all while keeping the engagement high.

Real Talk with Two National Teachers of the Year

Rodney Robinson and Kurt Russell have taught students in suburban, city and juvenile detention schools and believe representation matters. In this course they share how centering practice on all students’ identities builds engagement and empathy, and empowers students to see their place in the world.

Explore innovative ideas shaping education

Throughout these five Kahoot! courses from SXSW EDU, participants will discover the stories and conversations of innovative thought leaders in education presented at SXSW EDU 2023, such as Luma Mufleh, Joy Harjo, and Kurt Russell. Dig into timely and relevant topics, including transforming the education experience for refugee students and English language learners, and how schools can counteract hate by connecting people and communities. Learn how artists are sparking creativity, imagination, and critical inquiry with Drag Story Hour, and hear from a U.S. Poet Laureate and award-winning artist on how poetry, art, and nature can help students create and explore their identities. Finally, listen in on a talk with two National Teachers of the Year on why diversifying the curriculum matters to empower students.

Participants will also receive a digital certificate for completing each course, which can be shared on social media to show their achievement and encourage fellow educators to join in the awesome learning!

The first of its kind, professional development content

This partnership represents Kahoot!’s first foray into professional development courses for educators, as well as SXSW EDU’s first launch of interactive virtual content to support the education community.
