Oslo, Norway (May 9, 2022): Kahoot!, the global learning and engagement platform company, today announced it has been selected to participate in the LEGO Foundation’s first ever Play for All Accelerator, a grant and mentorship program designed to catalyze innovation that celebrates the strengths of neurodivergent children and helps make learning more inclusive through play.
In the Play for All Accelerator, the LEGO Foundation is connecting organizations, ventures and social enterprises from around the world to learn, collaborate and develop solutions that support autistic children and those with ADHD through play-based learning. Up to five participants will become long-term partners of the LEGO Foundation, and the program will provide up to $20 million of funding to up to 25 organizations, with the mission of advancing products, services and experiences that can have a transformative positive impact on neurodivergent children and their families.
“Kahoot! and the LEGO Foundation have always shared a strong belief in the power of play to bring joy to learning, which makes this partnership so exciting,” said Eilert Hanoa, CEO at Kahoot!. “We are thrilled to have been selected for the LEGO Foundation’s exciting new Play for All Accelerator to learn and share innovative ideas of how we can help neurodivergent children thrive through playful learning, continuing our commitment to making learning awesome for all.”
In the last 12 months, more than 9 million educators globally have used Kahoot! to supercharge engagement and learning through play in their classrooms and virtually, with hundreds of millions of non-unique student participants and families playing and learning at home.
“Through my years of research on playful learning, I have seen clearly how play can transform learning, teaching, and assessment—helping learners to discover and develop their strengths, connect with others, gain confidence and build 21st century skills,” said Louisa Rosenheck, Director of Pedagogy at Kahoot! and participant at the Play for All Accelerator kick-off. “Designing with neurodiversity in mind ensures that playful learning experiences are flexible, adaptable, and inclusive. This approach is vital for learners with special needs, but it benefits all learners. I’m really enjoying learning from the wealth of expertise in this program as we work together to bring more playful learning experiences to learners all over the world.”
