A big vocabulary is impressive, but language and literacy skills also shape how we are able to express ourselves, describe the world around us, and communicate with each other. To help students and learners of all ages enrich their vocabulary, I’m excited to share that Wiktionary, the free, collaborative online dictionary that aims to explain the meanings, origins, and usage of words, has launched a new channel of free, ready-to-play kahoots!

Strengthen language skills with playful learning
This collection of kahoots explores words in a wide variety of topics, from travel and nature to history and culture. Get ready to celebrate Earth Month in April by building a vocabulary of sustainability, Earth systems, climate, and human impact on the environment. For lessons on parts of speech, educators can add playful vocabulary review of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and other word classes. Learners can also challenge their knowledge of words describing emotions and life experiences, as well as modern words about technology, school, careers, and more.
Each kahoot question includes audio of the word spoken aloud, allowing learners to hear the correct pronunciation and making the experience more accessible. Whether you play in the classroom, with friends and family, or solo for self-study, these kahoots can make expanding your vocabulary and literacy skills more fun and engaging than ever!
