About the company and their Kahoot! Hero
Vålerenga Fotbal is one of the leading soccer clubs in Norway founded in 1913. Daniel Engebretsen, head of visual entertainment at Vålerenga Fotbal, introduced Kahoot! at home games in 2015.

Half-time is Kahoot! time

When the whistle blows for half-time at Vålerenga’s Initility Arena, thousands of fans reach for their smartphone to join the latest quiz. “Once we put up a Kahoot! game on the screens, we see our fans look up immediately – ready to play and compete,” said Daniel.

Questions – ranging from club trivia to player stats – are displayed on a big screen, and fans answer on their smartphone. Prizes, including signed shirts and match tickets, are awarded to the winner of each of the season’s 16 quizzes. As well as engaging fans with the club’s history and brand, kahoots help fans connect while also giving them an additional incentive to keep coming back.

On the final home match of the season, the fan who achieved the highest cumulative score across the 16 kahoots is crowned champion. This is made possible through Kahoot! tournaments, which is available with Kahoot! 360 Pro, our most comprehensive plan.

Tips
1

Create a mix of questions
Appeal to fans of all ages with questions from various periods. Ask about club legends and new signings, for example.

2

Stick to a schedule
Remember to engage fans on a regular basis. Half-time kahoots are just one option. Pre-match quizzes in a fan zone and remote challenges before away games also work well.

3

Keep questions short
Include true/false, ‘guess the number,’ image reveal, and ‘what year?’ question formats.

4

Announce prizes
Make the prizes for individual games and tournaments well-known so everyone is incentivized to enter
