How do I create a child profile?

With your adult account, you have the ability to create, edit, and delete child profiles linked to your account. This allows you to ensure a safe and age-appropriate experience tailored to each child’s needs.

Get started by downloading the Kahoot! app:

    1. After accessing the Kahoot! app, go to the home screen.
    2. Click on your profile picture in the upper left corner.
    3. Select “Add child”.
    4. Provide the child’s age.
    5. Set a nickname.
    6. Select the avatar.

Done!

Then, download the Kahoot! app (for children above 8) or the Kahoot! Kids app (for children below 8) to your child’s device.

You can also create a child profile in the Kahoot! Kids app:

  1. In the Kahoot! Kids app, tap on the Parents button in the top left corner.
  2. Provide your date of birth to confirm that you’re an adult.
  3. Go to the My Kids section.
  4. Select the profile.

Go to the app store on your mobile device and search for Kahoot! Kids. Alternatively, tap the link:

Within Kahoot! App:

  1. Open the Kahoot! app and login or sign up.
  2. Tap on the avatar icon in the top left corner of the screen to open your profile.
  3. On the top of the screen, you’ll see the existing profiles. Tap on the Child profile or one of the previously created child profiles to open a child profile’s space in Kahoot! app.

How to play kahoot?

Start a live game.
The host’s screen will display available game modes. Click options on the carousel at the bottom of the screen to see short descriptions. Choose the one that best matches the gameplay experience you want to provide your audience.

Classic
Use classic mode if you want every player to play individually.

Team mode
Use team mode if you want players to form teams. You can read more about Team Mode here.

Other game modes
Kahoot! game modes empower every aspect of dynamics between players, from lesson or meeting planning to delivery, through to assessment and reporting. Read more:

Before you choose the game mode, in the lobby when waiting for the players and in-between questions, you can go to a list of game options that can be accessed via the gear wheel icon on the bottom right corner of the host’s screen.

You can modify some of those settings during the game, in between questions. Your settings will be saved for next time. You can read more about settings here.

  3. Type in the question. The questions from the Test knowledge section require you to provide the answers and mark the correct response (if applicable for the question type you selected).

Over 30 million public kahoots have been created by our team, partners, and community. Whether you teach 1st grade, college, or train new hires, you can likely find pre-made games that suit your needs.

To get started, log in to your Kahoot! account and type in the relevant phrase in the search bar at the top of the screen or go to the Discover page via the left-side panel.

How to search:

You can use the search bar near the top of the page. Type a keyword for a list of matching kahoots. Or to see a list of kahoots someone’s made, type in their username.

Child account holders can search only the free pre-selected kahoots that we’ve vetted as both appropriate and awesome. The filters are not available.

  • You can only see public kahoots. Private kahoots must be shared with you and will be found under Shared with you on your Library page.
  • Keyword and username terms are not case-sensitive.

Filters – You can filter results by type of free and premium offer, common subjects, as well as grade level, creator’s role, and language. Additionally, you can choose if you want to display individual kahoots, channels, or courses.

Sort by – Three sorting options let you prioritize what is shown at the top:

  • Most Relevant – what we think is an ideal mix of factors including popularity and quality.

When navigating our Discover page and browsing through your search results, pay attention to the labels placed at the bottom of the covers of kahoots and courses.
