Barcelona, Spain January 20, 2025: Kahoot!, the leading learning and engagement platform, is excited to announce that the National Research and Educational Network (NREN) has chosen Kahoot! as the official platform for more than 30 public universities across the nation. This initiative involves implementing Kahoot! EDU in prominent public institutions, including Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad de Sevilla, and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, among others. The introduction of Kahoot! EDU allows over 36,000 students and faculty members to have free and full access to the Kahoot! platform from their computers and mobile devices.
The selection process followed a tender led by NREN, an entity dedicated to promoting the Digital Agenda in Spain, focusing on developing initiatives aimed at digitalization and technological advancement in various sectors. The tender called for a platform with robust integration capabilities with the diverse LMS used in Spain to ensure seamless adoption and functionality. Kahoot! not only met these requirements but exceeded them through its LTI capabilities, facilitating smooth integration with the LMS platforms utilized by Spanish universities.
“We are excited to support Spanish universities in enhancing the learning experience for thousands of educators and students,” said Sean D’Arcy, Chief Solutions Officer at Kahoot! “Our commitment to engaging learning, impacting academic performance, and ensuring accessibility and interoperability aligns perfectly with the objectives of higher education institutions in Spain. By integrating directly into their LMS systems, we ensure that all of the universities’ faculty members and students have easy access to interactive and impactful learning with Kahoot!”
The tender process involved a triple collaboration between Kahoot!, Crayon and Konica Minolta. For this collaboration, Crayon is supporting Kahoot! on the implementation and deployment of Kahoot! EDU across the universities, while Konica Minolta assisted Kahoot! as a local transactional partner.
“Every day, we see the challenges that universities and corporations face when trying to make learning more accessible and engaging,” said Sonia Gutérrez, Marketing Director at Crayon. “As a leading distributor of EDU and business solutions, Crayon had been seeking a tool as innovative and engaging as Kahoot! The synergy of our industry expertise enables us to empower educational institutions to elevate learning experiences. Together, Crayon and Kahoot! are transforming how students and educators connect with knowledge, paving the way for a more engaging future in learning.”
The deployment of Kahoot! EDU in more than 30 public universities represents a significant milestone in Spain’s educational landscape. It equips faculty with tools to create engaging, personalized, and data-driven learning experiences. Kahoot!’s platform supports various applications, from engaging classroom quizzes and hybrid teaching to large-scale assessments, promoting collaboration and enhancing the educational journey for students across various disciplines.
Spanish universities have praised the smooth integration of Kahoot! and the positive responses from both faculty and students. The use of Kahoot! not only supports the universities’ goals of digitizing education but also builds on the rising global trend towards the use of game-based learning and assessment tools in higher education, which aims to motivate students to improve their learning retention, and build confidence while achieving improved learning outcomes.
This deployment further underscores Kahoot!’s leadership in the edtech space, reinforcing its role in transforming education through interactive and accessible learning solutions.
