Dave is Director of Performing Arts at Manor CE Academy in York, England. Dave is a composer, musician, and post-production engineer. His fascination with the process of commercial-level film sound has created several collaborations with top studios. This focus of quality in production features prominently in Dave’s teaching and is documented in his 2015 book ‘How to Write Great Music: Understanding the Process from Blank Page to Final Product.’

As part of his extensive music education interests, Dave is a GCSE music examiner and moderator for one of the leading examination boards. Dave is a member of the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) and the Music Teachers’ Association.

In addition to the young people he works with in York, Dave supports many other students and their teachers around the world, helping them to discover a deeper understanding of music using technology. Dave’s YouTube channel provides open and free access to musical challenges, learning demonstrations, and virtual orchestras for all ages and abilities.
