Oslo, Norway (October 11, 2022) – Kahoot!, the global learning and engagement platform company, announced today that it has launched an integration with the new Google Meet Live Sharing API, representing the first learning and engagement app to integrate the feature. This integration will allow Google Meet users to host and share a live kahoot session with other meeting participants without ever needing a second device.
As Google described the new feature on their blog, The Keyword, “Live sharing allows all meeting participants to interact with the content that’s being shared.” Users can now discover, host and join kahoot sessions right from Google Meet, or start a Google Meet meeting directly from the Kahoot! app. This integration also delivers the much-requested feature of enabling users to both host and participate in the kahoot session. Live sharing Kahoot! on Google Meet is now available for Android, with iOS and web access coming later this year.
“Millions of people use Google Meet daily to connect and interact with family and friends. With the new integration of Kahoot! and Google Meet, families and friends can make their calls even more fun playing their favorite kahoots together,” said Eilert Hanoa, CEO, Kahoot!. “Now that Kahoot! has integrated Google Meet live sharing, it’s easier than ever to bring energy, interactivity and impactful learning to video calls of all kinds on Google Meet.”
Both meeting hosts and participants can start live sharing a kahoot session during a video call by selecting Kahoot! from Google Meet’s “Activities,” creating a simple and seamless way to drive engagement in only a few taps. Alternatively, users can create their own kahoot, or choose from the millions of ready-to-use kahoots available, and instantly start a Google Meet video meeting to share it with friends and family, a study group or others.
Kahoot! was announced as an early partner for the new Google Meet Live Sharing API at the annual developer conference Google I/O in May, with Kahoot! as the first learning and engagement app to integrate the feature. Kahoot! has been working closely with Google for Education since 2019 when it became a Premier partner in the Partner Advantage Education Integrated Solutions Initiative. This was followed by a collaboration on Google Search Practice Problems and, most recently, launching the Kahoot! add-on for Google Classroom.
