To cater to our global audience of players and Kahoot!’ers, the Kahoot! Cup will be played across four different and unique session times spanned across timezones around the world. Students represent their country’s team and are encouraged to wave flags and show spirit for their country and home! During the 2022 Kahoot! Cup (last November, in fact) teachers across nearly 60 countries registered and participated in the live event, with over three thousand student players joining for the live event!

Here’s what to expect:

  1. Review the four different session times below, and cross-reference the timezone calculator to find what time the sessions will be hosted in your own locality.

How does the Kahoot! Cup work?

Separate Zoom events are created for each Kahoot! Cup session; four sessions means four, unique Zoom events. In the days prior to the event, you’ll get an email with a unique link to join Kahoot! Cup session you’ve registered for – these links are not to be shared with students or colleagues – only the teacher should join the Kahoot! Cup virtual Zoom event.

At the start time of each Kahoot! Cup session, the Zoom event will be opened and teachers (remember: one teacher per classroom) are invited to join the event. All you need to do? Click on the unique Zoom link that was previously emailed! Steve (our Kahoot! Cup host) will then launch the Kahoot! Cup live trivia game via shared screen for all students to access and join. We encourage you to turn on your camera, too, to make friends and connections all across the world!

Will students need two devices to join?

Nope! Teachers are encouraged to project the shared Zoom screen for classmates to follow along to the leaderboard. Students will access the individual game and kahoot questions on their own, independent device.

Will I (or my class) be required to share our video or microphones?

No. Each teacher will have an opportunity and option to share their camera and microphone, though it’s not at all required!

What is the subject matter or content area for the Kahoot! Cup?

The Kahoot! Cup content is focused on popular culture and current events from the current year, all facts being school-appropriate. Check out the Kahoot! Cup content from 2019 to get an idea of what to expect.

What if I teach multiple periods a day - can I only join one Kahoot! Cup session?

Teachers are encouraged to join any…or all…sessions! Registration is specific to the session time, though, so be sure to sign-up for every session you plan to attend.

I teach a virtual class. Can my students join from home?

While we would love for all students to join, only teachers and students in classrooms are invited to attend. This helps to keep the event safe and secure so that every attendee is supervised by an adult and/or teacher!

I've never participated in a live, virtual event before. Can I schedule a test run to practice logging in?

Sure! Please email the Kahoot! Cup host, Steve Auslander (sauslander@msdwt.k12.in.us) to schedule a rehearsal and practice session.

How many countries will be in attendance?

Last year, the Kahoot! Cup hosted teachers spanning across 58 different countries, including:

  1. USA

  2. Thailand

  3. Canada

  4. Malaysia

  5. Russia

  6. India

  7. Tunisia

  8. Syria

  9. Vietnam

  10. Poland

…and many, many more! We hope to break the record again this year!
